Just a usual day reading & learning Dart, yesterday was Editor update to build 0.8.5.1_r28990

Seems to have very little errors & notices in code, Editor don´t do analyzing for five minutes or ten anymore.  Code is all borrowed, little blue.  My x_dont_work folder I have put to a "dont analyze" state.  Dart Web Toolkit package was most erraneous... i think.  Stopped using it, but in yaml it was stayed, deleted it now from there also.

2 full posts, 25 items of Polymer discussion, I reqd them again in Discussion group.  Checkin my DailyDart_1 Web pages, 16 pages, G+ takes most time.  Dont start editor now. it makes Windows to stuck.  Something reallo wrong in my Win... I know.  (I have a old version of Java in jre-folder, in dart-program folder)  Screen flashes & it's slow when changing from editor to web-pages.  Really don't want to touch that jre-folder... when it works at least some-way.. so let it be.
PATH-TO-JAWA...  No.. I don't want to touch that neither.. not at least till I know that I can do it in one minute time.  Now instructions for it... is a mess.
     Quite messy... yes, that it has been for a two year.. getting better with little steps & learning more...  And better now record this state of things wwhile this mess still exists.  Soon it may disappear..   Having much work to do in outer world these days... 8 hours a day... at least.. still I work with Dart at least 4  - 6 hours a day.  This is strong...

     Coffee and sandwitches are ready...  If I can take hour in silence.. I might do most of the readings.. so lets get started.  Its dark outside, not anymore -2, now it's +10, WAU!!  So.. go reading.  Co's one of my goals is, to watch how this Dart is getting it's birth.  (got only 10 minutes in silence :)  Yeah, early morning Dart.

Paljon dataa..  DartEditori suoritti nimenmuutoksen noin 44 minuutissa.  Symlinkkien tarkastus ja pakettien oikeellisuuden varmistus kesti.  Sitten vielä analysointia.... n 10 min.

DART EDITORI:   Editorissa on syytä tarkkailla oikeaa alakulmaa:  Tämä, "Building Workspace" vaihe voi joskus kestää aika kauan.  Hakemistoissa voi määritellä: "Älä analysoi", jolloinka editorilla voi työskennellä paremmin jonkun muun koodin kimpussa.  Äkkinäinen voi muuten tuskastua DART:in toimimattomuuteen.  Edellinen uudistus teki DART-editorista huikean nopean,  se oli tämä  M5 vaihe.  Todella upeata.

Asiat rullaavat vakaasti eteenpäin; Uuutta materiaalia tulee viikoittain huikeat määrät ja kysymykset StackOverflowssa lisääntyvät.    Koskahan  1.0 versio tulee, ja millaiset uudet apuvälineet siinä on mukana?   Jännän äärellä ollaan.

Dart-data tiedostojen säilyttäminen muualla kuin omassa Windows-hakemistossa.

DartEditorin kansioiden käsittely on automaattista ja ongelmatonta.  Ongelmia voi tietenkin luoda keinotekoisesti, jos haluaa: rupeaa pitämään tiedostoja muussa kuin oletus-sijainneissa.  

Olen nyt kuitenkin 5.4.2013 päätymss siihen, että annan DartEditorin vapaasti rakentaa dart -kansion omaan Windows (@home) hakemistooni.  Sinne editori sitten kopioi mm. esimerkki-ohjelmat (samples) kun klikkaan ne auki.
Samaan @home windows hakemistooni se tekee DartEditor kansion, jossa on .metadata.
Omat Julkinen-kansiossa olevat data-tiedostoni avaan sitten Editorin File/ Open Folder komennolla.

Tämä artikkeli on loppuosaltaan aika sekava...  lukeminen ei hyödytä. tuohon ylös lisäämäni kertoo jo oikeastaan tärkeimmän...

Haluan pitää Dart-data tiedostoni Windowsin julkinen kansiossa, koska olen tottunut käyttämään tiedostoja sieltä.  Windowsin kansio-systeemi on alkeellinen, tuhoutumisaltis ja hankala käyttää.
Julkisessa minulla on kaikki koko ajan nopeasti käsillä.

Darteditori oletusarvoisesti säilyttää .metadata-tiedostot @ user  home hakemistoon.

Merkkaan siis dart\darteditor.ini  tiedostoon -data kohdan alle sen tilalle rivin:
C:\Users\Public\dawo

Nyt kun päivitin 20602 editorin, ini-tiedosto tavan mukaan päivittyi mukana, ja minun pitää taas asettaa tuo tieto uudestaan.  Vanha pää ei tahdo muistaa tätä proceduuria: Kuinkas se nyt menikään?  

En voikaan DartEditorissa avata omaa dawo (dart-work) kansiota, koska se sisältää dart-editorin työtilan.   Editorilla on siis kolme eri kansiota

dart       ohjelmatiedostot, SDK ym,
dawo     oma data-kansioni..          jonka avaan / (installoin) joka kertaa uudestaan editorin File / Open New folder-valikosta.

Mutta: dawo-kansioni sijaintia minun ei pidä tallettaa minnekään; minä vain avaan sen tuosta editorin file / open folder valikosta...

Nyt olen jo melkein valmis alistumaan :)  editorin pompotukseen; se pitäköön mitkä tiedostot haluaa omassa Windows7% käyttäjähakemistossani.  Minä en sinne koske...
Minä käytän vain C:\Users\Public\dawo kansiotani... :)   hauskaa.

Linux / Ubuntu :ssa  darteditor ini:ssä on:   @user.home/.dartEditor

Windowsissa dart-editori.ini tiedostossa on rivi  @User\home\DartEditor

Voin avata Samples kansion myös suoraan DartEditori File/OpenFolder  -valikosta.  Silloin näitä ylimääräisiä kansioita ei synny, mutta: näin en siis voi käyttää Wellcome-ruutua...

What do I hope Dartlang to catch before 1.0 release?

Googles new Web-programming language, Dart, will soon be in it's  1.0 state.. maybe at the end of year 2013.
When i think especially new programmers, what are the language & tools, that's still missing?
What do I hope, that there will be, in 1.0 release?

      Dart team is making great work, but still there is many things to wait for:

1.  Small, simple example-programs for beginners & newcomers. Plenty of them. Examples are now much too complicated for beginners.  Like: templates, in Eclipse.

2.  Smart wizard for helping in simple & elementary syntax proglems, for people, who are first time using Dart.  Or who are first time using any programmin language.

3.  Editor; keep it simple :)   .Maybe little task / note / planning system... & MyOwnCheatSheet.
     Plugin to Eclipse works fine, when someone wants more complicated system!

4.  DTM-Dart,  Easy, simple & short Dart Tips for Mobile phone readers.

5.  DartLang calendar for to mark events, broadcasts, hangouts..to collect people together.
     This is just for fun & decoration...  Helping newcomers in quick beginning.

6.  Solving (installation) problems for Windows users, Java-plugin (?!) firewalls & so.
      I wonder if other Windows user are experiencing difficulties to start DartEditor..

7.  How-To-Use extensions for Pub-packages.  so. cover round the libraries, desktop.
     I have the package, but what do I do with it?

8.  It's spring, & summer is coming, people are moving, want to listen DartLang!  
     Need podcasts to mobile phone...  I'm working in garden & want to learn.

9. Android-App to track DartLang growing, numbers in Stack, g+, git..  how many people are involved in learning dartlang...   Nice steady growing graphics.

10.  Android-app to follow dartlang discussion in mobile phone. Or is it just my old mobile, where I can not follow it?

11.  In Dart Api:s possiblility to mark, classify, keep unread classes / pages.  Possibility to Read-Next, Read-Previous...    Now reading exp.  dart:collection is quite hard. What there is important for me?

12.  DartLang for children.  Whit new language should be also new ways to learn.  There is no reason why children in 8 or 10 years old, should not be learning programming.  Exept their envious olders.

13.  Programming should be an other language for all of us.


And language itself...  i hope better connections to databases...

DartEditor Plugin asentaminen Eclipse editoriin ja Eclipsen.ini -tiedoston PATH muuttujan muokkaus.

Onko ongelmia Eclipse Java:n DartEditor Plugin kanssa?  RATKAISTU.

HP-koneessani Eclipse C++ ja Eclipse-JAVA toimivat heti ongelmitta..
DartEditor plugin asentaminen jälkimmäiseen meni ongelmitta...

PB-koneessani Eclipse-JAVA ei alkanut toimimaan...  Luultavasti se ei löydä
JDK:ta tai JRE:tä   Windows 7:ssä siis nämä kaikki, molemmat koneet.
En halua muokata Windows7 PATH-ympäristömuuttujaa, joten pitää mennä ronkkimaan
Eclipsen eclipse.ini -tiedostoa..  StackOverFlow:sta löysin ohjeet.

Somehow, I overlooked the fact that whatever is called Function in dart in fact doesn't correspond to javascript notion of Function - it's really a closure, e.g.

This is a great feature, so I withdraw my sarcasm. I thought dart makes distinction between Function (as pointer to function "codes") and Closure, but it probably doesn't.

Won't it be better to call it Closure, not Function then, to avoid confusion?

Some Functions are in fact closures, meaning that they carry their lexical environment, but not all of them. I'm not sure about renaming Function to Closure, I think it would make some situations more clear and some less.

Probably you are right, but then things get a bit confusing indeed for anyone coming from javascript (huge army of potential dart users).

Look at "Tour of the dart language" - they are talking about functions AND closures, without elaborating on subtleties - but this are very important subtleties, deserved to be featured much more prominently.

 Needs to be better documented maybe?

Getters and setters IN DART

Getters and setters

Getter and setter methods provide read and write access to internal object state. When calling a getter or setter, omit the trailing parentheses. Define getters and setters using the getand set keywords.

but in my editor it runs without errors...

Can't send FeedBack in Dart Editor. Palautteen lähettäminen DartEditorissa ei onnistu.

Maaliskuusta lähtien palautteen lähettäminen on onnistunut.. en onnistunut selvittämään, miksi se ei aikaisemmin onnistunut.

Ongelma Dart-editorin asentamisessa. RATKAISTU

(Huom, nämä DartEditorin versiot näyttävät vaativan jre tai jdk version 6.  Kun latasin JDK 6:n dart-hakemistooni, niin kaikki näyttää toimivan hyvin.)

Klikkaan editorin asennuspaketin kuvaketta (darteditor.exe)  se avautuu, logo näkyy noin 5 sekunnin ajan, sitten Editori antaa pitkän virheilmoituksen:  

"   \DartEditor\.metadata" is read-only.  " 

Tällainen voisi liittyä ongelmaan, joka minulla oli editorien 10994 ja 11397 kanssa:

Windows Defender esti DartEditorin asentamisen, eikä edes antanut mitään varoitusta tai tiedotusta siitä.  Ei, vaikka olen koneeni "Administrator".  

DART-editori asennetaan toistaiseksi muista ohjelmista poikkeavalla tavalla; Siinä ei ole erillistä asennusohjelmaa, VAAN käyttäjän on avattava se "Windows pääkäyttäjänä", Administraattorina.  

Vasta kun avasin kuvakkeen vartavasten hiiren OIKEAN painikkeen kautta "Windows Administrator:ina", sain asennusohjelman käynnistymään.  Sitten minun piti normaaliin tapaan vastata:  "Kyllä, haluan antaa tämän ohjelman tehdä muutoksia koneeseeni"  

Nyt näyttää siltä, että minun on jatkossakin avattava DartEditori AINA Administratorina.  Toisessa koneessani ei tätä ongelmaa ole, koska olen ymmärtänyt laittaa Windows Defenderin pois toiminnasta.  Myöskin tämän koneen Linux/Ubuntu puolella asennus sujui ongelmitta.  

Eiköhän tämäkin ongelma ratkea joskus...

Minä törmäsin tähän ongelmaan, koska tavallisessa koneessani en käytä *Windows Defenderiä.  Siksi se pääsi yllättämään niin pahasti toisessa koneessa. 

Ohjelmoijat eivät yleensäkään käytä Windowsia juuri tämänkaltaisten asioiden takia.

Huom!   Nämä DartEditorin versiot näyttävät vaatiivan jre tai jdk 6-version.  
Asensin JDK:n (Java Development Kit) 6:n  dart hakemistooni, ja kaikki näyttää sitten toimivan hyvin. 

Problem installing Dart Editor, caused By Windows Defender. Solved.

Click EditorFile to install it, Logo is seen for 5 seconds, then you get long error message:  

"   \DartEditor\.metadata" is read-only.  " 

This might be connected to same problem, that I had with editors 10994 and 11397. 

Windows Defender prevented DartEditor/installation from launching, and WD gave no warning or information about it. Editor logo was  visible for 5 sec, and then I got DartEditor error message..  And I am The administrator in computer.  

When I launched DartEditor "as Windows administrative"  and answered: "Yes I want to allow this unknown program to ....", I got it installed.  Now I must use this option also when launching editor, but I hope it will be solved soon...

DartEditor (11434) in windows7 Vista with Problems

Cant Launch DartEditor, it can't create Settings Folder, because: "Read Only"   ??
Settled partly:  Look at the end:  

Editor 11434  Loaded To my bigger computer, HP,  OK.  (tought it was 11397---)

In smaller PB, also windows Vista, same problems contiunue...

DartEditor dont start...  It cant make its settings file to <users personal folder>
I try to move folder from my HP, no succes.
    .metadata is read only...

So, what next?   Go to work?   No.   Seems I like to be stucked with problems.  Can't leave them behind.       And I know that only stupid and lazy people use Windows.  I AM ashamed.
Any plans?  little something:

A.   Do check, what are the differencies between my 2 computers.

B.    Try, try, boy...  stuck your head to thick wall.. (never ever even dream of reading instructions).

C.     Conflicting with Eclipse?  so. settings...  And why are Dart folders full of Eclipse stuff?
         I thought i read ALL dart material, but this Eclipse thing i must have partly missed...

D.     Windows security / FireWall, and so.

E.       In HP /DartEditor I can not send FeedBack to Editor Group!  Why?
          How can i send mail directly to EditorTeam?  where can I find their GMail @ ?

Seems that this was all about stupid Windows Defender! 
I opened now installation file in Windows with administrative priviledges.  !!  Neither Windows or editor warned me, that I must do it.  Seems that I must now do it every time.  I AM in Windows with full administrative priviledges!  
Dart Editor is functionin, but I do not have now that    .metadata folder.  
     Maybe I should put Windows defender to sleep, when I first time install DartEditor.
In my HP-computer I do not use defender and there I did not have these problems.
